We are really pleased to announce the availability of the Podmedics HouseOfficer Course.

The main focus of this day-long course will be to teach you all the practical things that medical school and finals did not cover about being a junior doctor on the wards. Just in time as well - the weekend before you start on the wards in August!

At Podmedics we pride ourselves in being great at explaining stuff in a simple and memorable way. Starting work as an F1 is really stressfull (have you seen Junior Doctors!?). We want to ease that pain.

The course will be delivered by Dr Ed Wallitt and Mr Mike Rafferty - both of whom have been practising junior doctors for the last 3 years. Detailed notes for the day will also be included.

We shall be covering:

  • Surviving you first week
  • Core organisational skills (e.g. writing in notes, patient lists)
  • Common ward calls
  • Prescribing (including the common drugs and dosages you need to know)
  • Using technology to help (will also include copies and a practical demo our our new iPhone app for Houseofficers and junior doctors)
  • Hospital communication skills (getting scans, making referrals etc)
Registration is limited to 100 places so do consider signing up early.

The location is still to be announced, but will be in a Central/West London location with excellent travel links.
